President Trump revoked an invitation for the Super Bowl winning Philadelphia Eagles after they decided to change their RSVP status prior to the event. White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders responded on behalf of President Trump and as to why he chose an American celebration event and his love for the National Anthem instead.

Citing the NFL`s National Anthem controversy, President Trump has rescinded the Philadelphia Eagles` invitation to the White House.

The Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles will not make their scheduled visit to the White House on Tuesday, according to a statement released by President Trump Monday night. Sports Illustrated legal analyst Michael McCann spoke to CBSN about the disinvitation as well as the new invitation the Eagles received from Sen. Bob Casey, D-Pennsylvania, to tour the Capitol.

Trump Cancels White House Visit for Philadelphia Eagles The POTUS issued a statement on Monday, canceling the event for the Super Bowl LII champions, citing the controversy from the NFL kneeling protests during the national anthem. “The Philadelphia Eagles are unable to come to the White House with their full team to be celebrated tomorrow.” “They disagree with their President because he insists that they proudly stand for the National Anthem, hand on heart…” “…in honor of the great men and women of our military and the people of our country.” Many of the Eagles’ players previously made statements about refusing to attend the ceremony, which is slated for Tuesday. Trump will still be at the ceremony at 3 p.m. local time to “celebrate America” with Eagles’ fans. Trump’s decision follows an NFL mandate last month that players who refuse to stand for the national anthem must retreat to the locker rooms.
