By KAREN CROUSEJUNE 13, 2017
ERIN, Wis. — Davis Love III’s son, Dru, was on the eighth green at Erin Hills on Tuesday when he asked for a number from his caddie.
Dru Love is 24, but unlike the Open debut of his father, who was already a PGA Tour winner,
Dru Love’s first appearance will also represent his first start as a professional.
“Dad,” Dru Love said, “what year was your first U. S. Open?”
Brookline in 1988, the elder Love replied.
Twenty-nine years after his father’s inaugural United States Open, Dru Love is playing in the event for the first time,
and he will have his father, a one-time major winner and two-time Ryder Cup captain, on his bag.
