Self-described by the owners as a European-style boutique and café, Modern Mode is more Portland or Silverlake than conventional Taipei. Tucked away in a narrow alley of the Datong district, the double “M” quietly exudes a confident hipster allure that repels the mega-brands and glitz of the big city. The boutique rocks a new bohemian sensibility – you will find apparel and crafts from independent Asian designers, antique furniture and vintage wares.
