(Reuters) – Starbucks Corp (SBUX.O) forecast on Tuesday slower sales growth than Wall Street expected this quarter and plans to close about 150 U.S. cafes next fiscal year to boost performance, sending its shares down 2 percent after hours. The world’s largest coffee chain is facing competition both from upscale coffee houses and lower-priced fast-food chains like McDonald’s Corp (MCD.N) and Dunkin’ Donuts (DNKN.O). It has missed analysts’ estimates for same-store sales in the U.S.

Videos of the arrest, which went viral, were “very hard to watch,” Johnson said. He said the company’s practices and training led to the “reprehensible outcome” and that the incident “should never have escalated as it did.

On Tuesday afternoon Starbucks closed for a half-day.
The company held mandatory training for the company’s nearly 175,000 employees.
The training was aimed at reducing racial bias and discrimination.
The training was scheduled after two black men were arrested in a Philadelphia Starbucks.
The men were accused of trespassing when in fact they were there for a business meeting.
Research suggests that just one half-day of training is unlikely to turn things around.
