A Vermont town is running its own version of “Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory” by hiding golden tickets in candy bars that are good for one year of free parking. The chocolate makers, Dar Tavernier-Singer and her husband, John Singer, made 1,000 special bars with three golden tickets hidden in the batch. The idea is to lure folks downtown, where hopefully they will spend a little cash with local retailers. InsideEdition.com’s Keleigh Nealon (https://twitter.com/KeleighNealon) has more.

CRUISR began in 2012 as the solo project of Andy States and quickly morphed into what it is today; an indie-pop band whose summery, feel-good hooks are infectious and stadium ready.
States wrote and recorded the band’s first EP in his Philadelphia bedroom, fixated on the idea of what it means to craft a pop song. “I have an obsession with writing pop music and the idea that songs can transcend people.,” States says. “I saw that producer Jeremy Park started writing blog articles about how he recorded Youth Lagoon, so I wrote to him and sent him my songs asking for advice and knowledge. He wrote back and loved my stuff and helped me produce the first EP.”
The six-song self-titled EP was released in the summer of 2012 and quickly garnered attention online and in the press. With all the newfound awareness Andy promptly realized he needed a band to bring his songs to the stage. “Jon was always my sounding board. I’d show him songs in the making and get his advice. It only made sense that he’d become part of CRUISR,” Andy notes. With the addition of Kyle and Bruno the quartet set out performing whenever possible. And of course, they continued to write.
“The writing process definitely changed once we became a full band. I’ll work on my computer and bring the idea to Jon. By that time it’s structured and has a backbone, guitars are figured out etc. Jon elaborates on the idea with drums and it goes from there.” In late 2013 CRUISR released a new track online, “Kidnap Me,” which attracted even more positive attention than the EP. Representative of CRUISR as a cohesive unit, “Kidnap Me” was the first track written as a band and showcases what CRUISR does best; sunny, warm, indie-pop. “It’s funny because we’re from Philadelphia and we write songs that sound like summer, which is a fleeting season here. I guess it’s just because Philly is where we feel happiest, and when we’re happy we write happy music.”
Fast-forward to present day when CRUISR is gearing up to release their second EP, All Over, which features definitive recordings of “Kidnap Me” and “Don’t Go Alone” as well as the brand new title track “All Over”; all of which were produced and mixed by Andrew Maury (RAC, Panama Wedding, Ra Ra Riot). All Over demonstrates how fantastically Andy’s mind is able to translate pop hooks. “How does pop music make everyone like it so much?” States laughs, “Little kids hear it on the radio and just go crazy, singing stupid songs. There’s something that’s so smart about it, and a lot of things that people don’t notice are the key ingredients to writing a pop song. I’m just really into trying to decipher what those things are and trying to make pop music in our own way.”
All Over will be released on September 23 via Vagrant Records.
CRUISR is Andy States (vocals / guitar), Jonathan Van Dine (drums), Kyle Cook (bass), Bruno Catrambone (guitar)

On Thursday, Mayor James Kenney of Philadelphia said he would seek to end state control of the city’s school district. It is the 8th largest in the United States. Kenny vowed to increase local tax support to improve city schools.
Kenney is a Democrat and in his first term as mayor. He told the City Council he had lost confidence in the likelihood of increased state aid because of Pennsylvania’s own budget woes. He said, “If we don’t take responsibility for the fate of our schools, then we will continue to relegate generations of Philadelphia’s families to poverty. If we pair local control with increased investments, we can finally confront our city’s most persistent challenge.”
A speeding Amtrak train was doing more than double the 50 mph limit before a sudden deadly derailment on a sharp curve killed seven people and injured more than 200 others.
Northeast Regional Train 188 was zipping through Philadelphia at more than 100 mph when the engine and its seven passenger cars skidded off the rails, The Wall Street Journal reported.
The body of the seventh victim was pulled from the wreckage Wednesday as first responders combed through the twisted metal in a macabre search for the missing, officials said.
Federal investigators arrived at 4 a.m. Wednesday in the hunt for answers at the Philadelphia disaster.
“We are looking at the track, the train signals … human performance, to try and understand the factors that led to this,” said Robert Sumwalt of the National Transportation Safety Board.
o answers came Wednesday from the Amtrak train’s engineer, who hired a lawyer and refused to provide any insight on what went wrong one night earlier, Philadelphia police said.
The unidentified engineer declined to make a statement about the wreck.
Among those killed was a U.S. Naval Academy midshipman heading for his Far Rockaway home while on leave from the Annapolis school.
Queens kid Justin Zemser, 20, was appointed to the Naval Academy after his 2013 graduation from the Hurricane Sandy-damaged Channel View School.
A second victim was identified as Jim Gaines, 48, of Plainsboro, N.J., a video software architect with The Associated Press. The married father of two was coming home from a business meeting in Washington when he was killed.
Among the still missing hours after the derailment was Rachel Jacobs, 39, the CEO of the company ApprenNet and a rider on the train.
“We are just frantic, waiting to hear news from my daughter,” said her mom Gilda told the Daily News.
The train’s black box was found and turned over to analysts in hopes of discovering what went wrong Tuesday night as the engine and its seven cars were scattered across the tracks.
The data recorder should provide investigators with details on the train’s speed, whether the brakes were ever applied or if the horn was sounded before the accident.
Authorities confirmed they were still trying to locate an unspecified number of the 238 passengers and five crew members traveling from Washington to Penn Station in Manhattan.
“We are searching every (train) car, every inch, to find or locate individuals who might be on that train,” said Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter. “We will not cease our efforts until we are absolutely sure that we have gone through every vehicle.
SIGN UP FOR OUR NEWSLETTER An ailing Paul Simon stepped out of his retirement from show business Monday night to serenade delegates of the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia with “A Bridge Over Troubled Water,” at once a plea for unity and a reminder of his own inability to get along with his one-time singing partner Art Garfunkel. The song was the biggest hit for Simon and Garfunkel , but it was virtually the only song Simon’s curly-haired partner sang as lead. Over the years, the song has become like a child being tugged at in a custody fight. Garfunkel sings it to remind Simon he sang their biggest hit and Simon gives interviews in which he goes out of his way to compliment other singers’ versions . SIGN UP FOR OUR NEWSLETTER A song that was supposed to symbolized unity and our obligations to take care of each other has come to mean something else–and when a sratchy Simon struggled through his rendition, it did not have the effect the convention planners were hoping for. But, that was not all Simon ‘s fault, considering what he walked into. Simon was late coming to the stage, and Sen. Al Franken (D.-Minn.) and comedienne Sarah Silverman were asked to stretch out their act, which was not going as well as planned. Franken told the delegates that he was a Hillary Clinton supporter and Silverman countered that she was a supporter of Sen. Bernie Sanders (D.-Vt.) . “I’ve been hashtag ‘I’m With Her,’” said Franken. “And this past year, I’ve been feeling the Bern,” said Silverman to cheers from the Sanders supporters. “Relax, I put some cream on it.” Silverman , who wore a black dress with her black hair in a stout beehive, said that she will be proud of supporting Sanders. “Bernie has succeeded in so many ways,” she said. “Not only did Bernie wake us up to what is possible and what we deserve.” The star of the stand-up comedy film Sarah Silverman: Jesus Is Magic told the delegates: “ Hillary heard the passion of the people–the people behind Bernie and put those passions into the party’s platform. Clinton moved to unite the two campaigns, she said. “I will proudly vote for her,” she said. “It is just so inspiring, a few years ago she was a secretary and now she is going to be president,” said Silverman, who took out her wand for vaping marijuana at the 2015 Emmy Awards, saying that she was just going for a “a little puff-a-rooney.” The point of the exercise was to demonstrate the power of Monday’s theme: “Stronger Together” and it was going well until Franken took his turn at the podium. Then, all the courtesy Sanders supporters gave to Silverman went away and the chants rose up: “Bernie! Bernie! Bernie!” That was when the comedienne leaned over into the microphone and got real: “Can I just say to the ‘Bernie or Bust’ people? You’re being ridiculous.” Not good. First came the cheers from the Clinton supporters. But, as Franken tried to speak, the enraged Sanders supporters drowned him out: “Bernie! Bernie! Bernie!” Franken said to Silverman: “Listen to that. This is what you did” and “This is the power of comedy.” But, the chanting did not stop. The Sanders supporters were standing and shaking the “Stronger with Unity” signs convention organizers had passed out, but Sanders supporters had copyedited with markers to read: “Stronger with Bernie.” It was awkward and painful, as Franken babbled on, not wanting to do any more harm, and Silverman silently struck poses, mugging for the center field camera. All the while, the Sanders supporters continued to chant. Finally, Franken got word from off stage that the singer was ready and the two of them in relief announced: “Ladies and gentleman, Mr. Paul Simon .”
It measures your average blood glucose levels over the past two to three months; results of 5.7 percent to 6.4 percent, which indicate the percentage of red blood cells
that have glucose attached to them, indicate prediabetes.
Among thousands of people with prediabetes who participated in a national study called the Diabetes Prevention Program, those who received counseling about lifestyle changes, like losing a modest amount of weight, stepping up physical activity
and reducing the amount of fat and calories in their diets, were able to reduce their risk of developing diabetes by 58 percent.
While prediabetes often leads to full-fledged Type 2 diabetes, many people can hold the condition in check if they lose a relatively small amount of weight
and increase their physical activity, said Dr. Rhonda Bentley-Lewis, an assistant professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School.
One, the fasting plasma glucose test, checks blood glucose levels after an 8 to 10
hour fast; results of 100 to 125 milligrams per deciliter indicate prediabetes.
Doctors typically perform one of three blood tests to diagnose prediabetes, a condition marked by blood sugar (glucose) levels
that are higher than normal but not high enough to qualify as diabetes.
It checks blood glucose levels after fasting and then two hours after you consume
a sweetened drink; levels of 140 to 199 after the drink indicate prediabetes.
Prince Harry ’in total chaos’ over mother Diana’s death
Prince Harry said: “Because of the process I have been through over the past two-and-a-half years, I’ve now been able to take my work seriously, been able to take my private life seriously as well, and been able to put blood, sweat and tears into the things
that really make a difference and things that I think will make a difference to everybody else.”
Speaking to the paper’s Bryony Gordon, Prince Harry said: “I can safely say
that losing my mum at the age of 12, and therefore shutting down all of my emotions for the last 20 years, has had a quite serious effect on not only my personal life but my work as well.”
In an interview with the Daily Telegraph, he said it was not until his late 20s
that he processed the grief – after two years of “total chaos” and coming close to a “complete breakdown”.
She said it had been unusual to hear a royal talk for half an hour on any subject and described Prince Harry as “really articulate and a sound guy”.
These are external links and will open in a new window
Prince Harry has revealed he sought counselling after spending nearly 20 years “not thinking” about the death of his mother, Diana, Princess of Wales.
Prince Harry said: “My way of dealing with it was sticking my head in the sand, refusing to ever think about my mum, because why would that help?”
Harry, 32, also said boxing had “saved” him by helping him let out aggression.

The Utah Jazz will travel to face the Phoenix Suns in an NBA pro basketball game on Friday night. Tip off time from Phoenix is scheduled for 9PM Eastern Time with national television coverage provided by the NBA League Pass Channel.
The NBA odds from this game has the home team Phoenix Suns favored by -2 points with an over under line of 196 ½ points. There has been no line movement since the odds opened up a few hours in this pro basketball game.
This is already the third meeting of the season between these clubs. Each team won and covered the spread once in their home game. Trend: Phoenix Suns are 3-1 ATS in their past four games.
Utah is 6-13 on the road as they travel to Phoenix. The team just broke a three game losing streak as they defeat the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday 106-84 as a -3 point betting favorite. The game landed under 196 points. They face a Timberwolves on a back to back in the win and held Minnesota to just 34.5% shooting. A rested Utah club makes 49 ½% of their shots. The Jazz has struggled for offense in their road games with just 96 points a game on 43.6% shooting. Defensively Utah gives up just under 48% shooting on the highway.
The Suns are 10-7 on their home court. They break a six game losing streak on Wednesday in a 95-89 home win against the Philadelphia 76ers as a -4 point betting favorite. Phoenix has been a poor defensive club this season surrendering 47% from the floor which ranks 29th and second to last in the league. Teams make 40% from three against them making the Suns the worst team defending the three in the league. Their lack of size really hurts this club defensively.
According to a recent lawsuit, Texas Rangers star pitcher Cole Hamels struck out trying to see the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show last year despite paying over $70,000 to a London-based event promoter for VIP tickets. The former Philadelphia Phillies pitcher said he and his wife hoped to attend the 2015 New York City lingerie show and bought three VIP packages from Cornucopia Events. The suit alleges Hamels and his party got none of the perks and were even denied entry to the event. The Rangers starter is currently seeking $150,000 in damages for fraud and misrepresentation.
