THE PRESIDENT: Patricia, thank you so much for sharing your story, and doing such a wonderful job. Good afternoon, everybody. Before I start with my remarks I want to acknowledge some people who’ve been working diligently on this issue, in some cases for years. First of all, our Secretary of the Treasury, Tim Geithner is here. Christina Romer, the Chair of — there she is — of my Council of Economic Advisers, is here. Senator Danny Akaka from Hawaii; Representative Steve Driehaus of Ohio; Representative Walt Minnick of Idaho; Representative Paul Kanjorski of Pennsylvania; Representative Al Green of Texas. Karen Mills, our outstanding Administrator of the Small Business Administration; Sheila Bair, who’s been doing a heroic job trying to deal with the banking situation as Chairman of the FDIC; Mayor Michael Nutter of Philadelphia; and my National Economic Advisor, Larry Summers. And finally, we’ve got some special guests, some of the finest attorney generals who are fighting against consumer fraud and have been dealing with some of the consequences of the issues that we’re discussing here today — I’m proud to have them here: My former seatmate in the Illinois State Senate, Attorney General Lisa Madigan; Andrew Cuomo of New York; Martha Coakley of Massachusetts; and Roy Cooper of North Carolina. Please give them all a big round of applause. (Applause.) Now, for the last several months, this administration has been working with Congress to reform an outdated system of financial regulations and lax oversight that helped lead to last year’s crisis. And I want to thank some people here who are working tirelessly on this issue — first of all, Chairman Chris Dodd of the Senate Banking Committee, Chairman Barney Frank of the House Financial Services Committee, Richard Shelby, also of the Senate Banking Committee — for the leadership and enthusiasm that they have shown throughout this process. Part of our reform effort involves putting in place new safeguards that would help prevent the irresponsibility and …
Philadelphia police are looking for the man who used a sledgehammer on a vehicle and one of its passengers during a possible road rage incident on May 22.
A SUV can be seen pulling into parking lot with a red pickup truck following it in a surveillance video released by police on May 23. The driver of the pickup truck blocks the other vehicle from leaving the lot and exits the truck with a sledgehammer and smashes the driver’s side window.
The SUV attempts to leave the lot, and the passenger in the vehicle falls out. The SUV stops a short distance away, and the passenger gets up in an attempt to get back into the vehicle. The driver of the pickup truck then strikes the passenger with the sledgehammer before breaking the rear window of the SUV.

The Philadelphia Police Department says it is investigating an incident this week in which officers arrested two black men as they sat in a Starbucks. According to patrons, the men were doing nothing wrong and appeared to be targeted merely for their race. Footage filmed of Thursday’s incident shows the two men sitting quietly at a table and talking to police officers who have apparently been called to the store. They are then put in handcuffs.
A group of revelers stormed a Philadelphia gas station convenience store during the Eagles championship celebration early Monday, February 5, and now police are seeking to identify those who were inside the store.
Police released video of what they described as vandalism on Tuesday. “While inside, the suspects began taking items from the shelves, then began throwing food items and soft drinks on the floor and walls, causing a hole in the back wall of the business,” police said.
A reporter caught the melee on video, saying people were shouting “everything is free” as they looted and trashed the store.
Three people were arrested during the post-championship party, but police said to expect more arrests as officers reviewed surveillance footage, social media video and other evidence.

The times are changing drastically on how people find things. Phonebooks will soon be a thing of the past as people are turning to the internet to find information on local businesses in their area. I created a video that I’d really like you to see, that shows just how powerful traffic from the internet can be for your business, especially compared to things like advertising in the local paper.
