A student at Cambridge University recently found something unexpected in a book. Two candy bars were discovered between cut-out portions in a book during a stock check of the Newnham College Library.

Old book marks, jotted down notes…those are just a few things you might find in a library book. A student at the University of Cambridge recently found something quite unexpected however.

Two candy bars were discovered nestled inside a cut-out portion of a book during a stock check of the Newnham College Library. The hidden stash was located in the hollowed pages of ‘The Oxford Companion to English Literature by Margaret Drabble.’

The mysterious treat giver had written a note on the paper which reads “Dear student, congratulations on finding this book. Take your prize and return with one for the next person.”

The scholarly book is not library property so it’s believed someone put it on the library shelves so a student would find the treats. What remains a mystery is whether or not the two chocolate bars are the original candies or if they’re replacements.

A spokeswoman for Newnham College, Jo Tynan remarked “We don’t know how long the book was there for but we don’t think it was very long. A lot of our students got firsts this year so who knows whether they were helped with their studies by these chocolates.”

Take a tour of Parking Garage Shaped Like Bookshelf – Kansas City Public Library in Kansas City, United States – part of the World’s Greatest Attractions travel video series by GeoBeats. The Kansas City Library parking garage, located in the heart of downtown Kansas City, Missouri signifies extraordinary architectural design. It was built to rejuvenate the metropolis area and encourage residents young and old alike to take advantage of its books and further knowledge. The exterior portrays book bindings of several of the world’s most famous writings, made to depict a large bookshelf. The building stands approximately 25 feet tall and each book is 9 feet in width. There are 22 books in total, the widely ranged titles chosen by Kansas City citizens for an entirely personified approach to design.

PHILADELPHIA — Lower Merion police have been on the hunt for a man accused of defecating in a library stairwell since December. Thanks to Facebook users, they’ve tracked down a suspect.

On Dec. 17, surveillance video taken at Ludington Library in Bryn Mawr shows a man walking through the building, and entering the stairwell. Once in the stairwell, the man proceeds to drop his pants, and do his disgusting deed. With no decent leads in the investigation, the cops published the surveillance video to Facebook on Jan. 25. Within hours, the suspect was identified.

Lower Merion Police Department has issued its thanks to the public for its help, and has since taken down the video. The case remains under investigation, and it still has yet to be determined what the man’s motive might have been.
