A college degree or work experience: What employers look for in 2014
A student at Cambridge University recently found something unexpected in a book. Two candy bars were discovered between cut-out portions in a book during a stock check of the Newnham College Library.
Old book marks, jotted down notes…those are just a few things you might find in a library book. A student at the University of Cambridge recently found something quite unexpected however.
Two candy bars were discovered nestled inside a cut-out portion of a book during a stock check of the Newnham College Library. The hidden stash was located in the hollowed pages of ‘The Oxford Companion to English Literature by Margaret Drabble.’
The mysterious treat giver had written a note on the paper which reads “Dear student, congratulations on finding this book. Take your prize and return with one for the next person.”
The scholarly book is not library property so it’s believed someone put it on the library shelves so a student would find the treats. What remains a mystery is whether or not the two chocolate bars are the original candies or if they’re replacements.
A spokeswoman for Newnham College, Jo Tynan remarked “We don’t know how long the book was there for but we don’t think it was very long. A lot of our students got firsts this year so who knows whether they were helped with their studies by these chocolates.”
