Obama Wins, Makes History – Spontaneous Election Night Philly Celebration

Tony Romo doesn’t understand why players celebrate with the possibility of getting injured.

Fans of the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, January 21, celebrated their team’s victory over the Minnesota Vikings. The win earned the Eagles a place in this year’s Super Bowl final.

This video shows fans, some wearing Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz’s jersey, cheering on Broad Street. A man can be seen scaling a lamp post despite attempts by the police to prevent fans climbing by slathering street poles in grease.

Police conducted extra patrols and set up barricades on Broad Street in anticipation of the crowd, Fox News reported. Philadelphia’s mayor Jim Kenney called on football fans to celebrate “with the same pride in our City that the players have shown throughout this astonishing season,” CBS quoted a statement.

Eagles Fans Flood Streets In Philly For Super Bowl Celebration | NBC News

A masked man in a green football jersey smashed a window at Macy’s in downtown Philadelphia, seen in this video, but another Eagles fan blocked anyone trying to gain access to the store until police arrived within minutes of the February 4 incident.

Thousands of fans flocked to downtown after Eagles beat the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl, the city’s first football championship since 1960, and there were damage reports that included an overturned car, smashed store windows, toppled streetlights and graffiti, a news report said. Fans climbed light poles and the awning at the Ritz-Carlton hotel. The awning later collapsed, and several light poles also fell over.

Three people were arrested amid the celebration.
