Tourists ran screaming for their lives tonight as a fire ripped though a packed red light district in Thailand.

Flames erupted just after 10pm on Saturday (March 10) in bars at the SMK plaza on Walking Street in Pattaya.

Female bar workers were filmed screaming in terror as they fled into the street in high heels with flames behind them and explosions.

The blaze quickly spread to neighbouring bars as motorbikes parked outside exploded.

Fire crews were tonight scouring the smouldering wreckage for signs of what caused the blaze.

British holidaymaker Andrew McKay from Crawley, said: “I was drinking in the bar and smelled smoke. In a few seconds people were screaming ‘fire, fire’.”

“I grabbed my bottle and legged it. I was outside and it was just like a matter of 10 or 20 seconds before the flames were everywhere.

“All the girls, all the locals, they ran outside and away down the road. The fire engines came and it took them about 30 minutes to get it under control.”

Bar girl Noi Wattana said: “I’m so shocked this was so scary. I just ran and the fire was so hot, I could feel it burning my skin.

“I was choking on the smoke. It was like a nightmare. My clothes and handbag was in the bar and I had to leave it.”

It’s time for battle of the emo bands! Who is the most emo band right now? Let’s compare and contrast some popular bands and rate their emo-ness.

First up is AFI. If a name like A Fire Inside is not emo then I don’t know what is. They are also an older band so they cannot be considered poseurs trying to be emo. Their hair and clothing display a brooding inner sensitivity. I give AFI a score of Four emo tears.

Next we have Good Charlotte. This is a tricky one. They may have some people fooled into thinking they are emo with their flicky hair, make up, and tattoos, but what emo would date Hilary Duff followed by Nicole Richie? So not emo. I give them one emo tear.

Panic! At the Disco is definitely an emo band. Their circus meets clockwork orange image and long song titles like, I write Sins not tragedies earn them four emo tears.

The final entry for battle of the emo bands is My Chemical Romance. These guys are self pitying, depressed, and wear tons of eye makeup. The best part is that the lead singer, Gerard Way, performs with a very pained expression on his face and we are unsure of his sexuality. The guitarist even has a tattoo that says I wish I was a ghost. I give My Chemical Romance 5 million emo tears!!! Well I’m all cried out so bye to all of you out there on Emoworldtv.com.
