Here is another peppy song by one of Sam Lanin’s many bands, this time under the above mentioned denomination. Sam (C.) Lanin (1891-1977) was an American jazz bandleader. Lanin’s brothers, Howard and Lester, were also bandleaders, and all of them had sustained, successful careers in music. Lanin was one of ten children born to Russian-Jewish immigrants who emigrated to Philadelphia in the decade of the 1900s. Sam played clarinet and violin while young, and in 1912 he was offered a spot playing in Victor Herbert’s orchestra, where he played through World War I. After the war he moved to New York City and began playing at the Roseland Ballroom in late 1918. There he established the Roseland Orchestra; this ensemble recorded for the Columbia Gramophone Company in the early 1920s. Sam recorded with a plethora of ensemble arrangements, under names such as Lanin’s Jazz Band, Lanin’s Arcadians, Lanin’s Famous Players, Lanin’s Southern Serenaders, Lanin’s Red Heads, Sam Lanin’s Dance Ensemble, and Lanin’s Arkansaw Travelers. He did not always give himself top billing in his ensemble’s names, and was a session leader for an enormous number of sweet jazz recording sessions of the 1920s. Among the ensembles he directed were Ladd’s Black Aces, The Broadway Bell-Hops, The Westerners, The Pillsbury Orchestra and Bailey’s Lucky Seven. He had a rotating cast of noted musicians playing with him, including regular appearances from Phil Napoleon, Miff Mole, Jules Levy Jr. and Red Nichols, as well as Jimmy Dorsey, Tommy Dorsey, Manny Klein, Jimmy McPartland, Bix Beiderbecke, Eddie Lang, Bunny Berigan, Nick Lucas and Frankie Trumbauer. Lanin did little actual playing on these records; his main contributions were clean, well-orchestrated arrangements and session directions. In addition to his recordings, he also played regularly on radio after 1923, and the Roseland Orchestra played on New York radio weekly every Monday from 1923 to 1925. He entered into a sponsorship with Bristol-Myers for their toothpaste, Ipana; as a result, his ensemble was renamed The Ipana Troubadors. In 1928 and 1929, Lanin recorded with Bing Crosby. The 1929 stock market crash hit Sam Lanin hard, unlike his brother Lester; in 1931, he lost his contract with Bristol-Meyers, his radio show and the name Ipana Troubadors. By the middle of the 1930s, Sam was spending much of his time cutting transcription discs. While his fame had waned, he was still well off from the money he saved in the 1920s and retired from the music business by the end of the 1930s. He was essentially forgotten at the same time Lester went on to stardom. He died in 1977, having never returned to music. This excellent recording was made in 1926. The vocal credited to ‘Frank Harris’ actually is by Irving Kaufman.

Part 1 of the Movie
Around the World in 800 Internet Cafes
Filmed and produced by andrew Liggins of Polar Design
Edited and produced by Dan Lowe

LANGUIDLY the night-wind bloweth
From the gardens round,
Where the clear Barrada floweth
With a lulling sound.

Not the lute-note’s sweet shiver
Can such music find,
As is on a wandering river,
On a wandering wind.

There the Moslem leaneth, dreaming
O’er the inward world,
While around the fragrant steaming
Of the smoke is curled.

Rising from the coffee berry,
Dark grape of the South;
Or the pipe of polished cherry,
With its amber mouth.

Cooled by passing through the water,
Gurgling as it flows—
Scented by the Summer’s daughter,
June’s impassioned rose.

By that rose’s spirit haunted
Are the dreams that rise,
Of far lands, and lives enchanted,
And of deep black eyes.

Thus with some sweet dream’s assistance,
Float they down life’s stream;
Would to heaven our whole existence
Could be such a dream!

How to Do Thigh Abduction & Adduction Exercises With Bands _ Stretching & Exercise

Rainbow loom! Rainbow loom bracelets are colorful DIY loom bands that we all love. In this DIY rainbow loom tutorial I show five beautiful band bracelets designs. These loom bands are easy, simple and fast to make but look so cute! These are all loomless bracelets, which means that we can make them without a rainbow loom. In this loom bands tutorial I show how to create a simple rainbow loom using pencils, an eraser and a nail polish. If you would like to see easy DIY rainbow loom charms in my next tutorial, comment bellow.

The first DIY rainbow loom design I show in this tutorial is the classic and super cute fishtail rainbow loom bracelet. This loom bands bracelet is so easy to make and takes no more than five minutes! For the fishtail stitch you need to have three bands on two pins and then pull the bottom band over the two top ones! Add another band and repeat the step. You can make a fishtail rainbow loom bracelet with fingers too! A fishtail loom bracelet can be made with only one color of loom bands or you can use more. I decided to go for violet and yellow colors. Be creative and use three different colors of loom bands for a tricolor fishtail bracelet!

Bands and beads anyone? In this rainbow loom tutorial I show a cute beaded band bracelet. You need a bunch of bands, some beads, a c-clip and a pencil loom or fingers for this DIY. I love how beads add so much dimension to the bracelet and make it look so bold and full. You can make the bracelet using all the beads in one color and all the bands in another or you can mix more colors like I did. Either way, the bracelet looks epic!

My favorite bracelet has to be an awesome three colored chain which reminds of an alien from the predator movie! This band bracelet is made on two pins so you can make it with your fingers, two pencils or even on a fork. The bracelet combines an inverse fishtail stitch with a normal single stitch and a fishtail stitch. Repeating these stitches while adding on the bands will result in a cool predator bracelet! I decided to use girly colors for this one and it turned out so cute!

In this rainbow loom tutorial I also show how to make a gorgeous DIY charmed band bracelet by combining loom bands and washers. We need a bunch of bands, a c-clip and some flat washers. You can find these in your dad’s garage or you can buy them and they are normally very cheap. I bet these are the cheapest connector charms out there! I love using stuff in a non conventional way, and this band bracelet perfectly represents that. I know the washers are very useful in construction but look pretty awesome as bracelet charms too.

The last bracelet in this rainbow loom tutorial is a fun and colorful double cross rainbow loom bracelet. You need a bunch of loom bands, and a c-clip. This DIY bracelet is made on a loom with four pins. You can use a rainbow loom if you have it or you can make your own loom using four pencils, a squared bottle of nail polish and a tape. This bracelet requires two bands for each band layer. I used six different colors for this double cross rainbow loom fishtail bracelet and I love how it turned out. It’s like a carnival bracelet. Bold, happy and bright!

You can make a ton of beautiful rainbow loom band bracelets even if you don’t have a loom or a hook. All of these were so easy to make and look fantastic! Don’t forget to check out my first episode of loom band bracelets if you haven’t already!
