The 34-25 Brooklyn Nets will travel on a back to back when they face a rested 33-25 Chicago Bulls in an NBA pro basketball game on Saturday night. Tip off time from Chicago is scheduled for 8PM Eastern Time with national television coverage provided by WGN.

The NBA odds from this game has the home team Chicago Bulls favored by -5 points with an over under line of 177 ½ points. There has been no line movement since the odds came out a few hours ago on this NBA games.

The teams met three times this season with each team winning on their home court. The road team covered the spread in both contests.

Brooklyn has a road record of 14-12. They lose for the third time in four games following a 98-90 home defeat to the Dallas Mavericks as a -3 point home betting favorite. The game ended under 194 ½ points. The Nets shot 46.2% from the floor and made 7 of 23 three pointers. They crushed the Mavs on the boards by a 44-31 margin. Brooklyn allowed 50% shooting to Dallas and gave away the game with 20 turnovers. Deron Williams led Brooklyn with 24 points and four boards on 8 of 18 shooting. The Nets have struggled for points all year. They rank 20th in the NBA in scoring offense with just an average of 95.2 points a game.

The Bulls are 16-14 on their home court. Chicago breaks a two game losing streak after a 93-82 home win on Thursday night to the Philadelphia 76ers as a -7 point betting favorite. The total landed under 178 points. Chicago survived a 38.6% shooting game along with 3 of 14 from three. They held the 76ers to 38.8% from the floor and the Bulls had six more rebounds. Chicago benefits from a bad free throw shooting night from the 76ers as they miss 9 of 21 shots while the Bulls hit on 26 of 33 from the charity stripe. Carlos Boozer had 23 points and 21 rebounds on 8 of 12 shooting. Without Derrick Rose the Bulls have tried to win with stout defense. That works against lower division teams but hurts them against upper echelon clubs. Chicago is in the bottom third in the NBA in three key offensive areas which are points per game, field goal and three point shooting. The Bulls are 28th and third to last in the NBA by scoring just 92.6 points a game.

The 29-9 LA Clippers will be on a back to back as they travel to play the Houston Rockets in an NBA pro basketball game on Tuesday night. Tip off time from Houston is scheduled for 8PM Eastern Time with national television coverage provided by the NBA League Pass Channel.

The current NBA odds in this pro basketball game have the road team LA Clippers favored by -1 point with an over under line of 211 points.

During the lockout shortened season the teams met three times with the Clippers winning all three games. LA covered the spread in two of the three games. Trend: Houston Rockets are 0-3 ATS in their past three games.

The LA Clippers are 11-5 straight up on the road this season. They bounce back from a bad home loss on Saturday to Orlando by blowing out the Memphis Grizzlies on Monday night by the score of 99-73 as a +4 ½ point road underdog. The total came in at under 179 ½ points. LA played without Chris Paul who sat out with a knee bruise. He is questionable for Tuesday’s game. The Clippers shot 46% from the field and got to the free throw line 32 times and made 24 shots. LA held Memphis to just 30% shooting. The team is 4th in the NBA in offensive field goal shooting at 47.7% and third in field goal defense by allowing opponents less than 43% shooting from the floor.

The Rockets are 14-6 on their home court on the year. They return home briefly after a three game east coast road trip where they lost each game. They come off the 107-100 road defeat on Saturday to the Philadelphia 76ers as a +1 point underdog. The game ended over 204 points. It was a tough spot for the Rockets playing their third game in four nights and facing travel in each game. Houston allowed an anemic offensive team in Philadelphia score 107 points and hit on over 49% from the field. James Harden led Houston with 29 points on 10 of 19 shooting. Point guard Jeremy Lin had an off night hitting on 2 of 13 from the field. The Rockets are the top scoring team in the league averaging 105 points a game. At home Houston averages nearly 109 points and over 46% shooting.

PHILADELPHIA — Joel Embiid wanted the ball down the stretch and the 76ers were happy to give it to him.

Embiid scored 16 of his 25 points in the fourth quarter and overtime to lead Philadelphia to its first victory of the season, 109-105 over the Indiana Pacers on Friday night.

Ersan Ilyasova added 14 points for Philadelphia, which was the last winless team in the NBA. The 76ers snapped a 44-game losing streak in October and November that dated to Nov. 22, 2013.

And they can thank Embiid, the No. 3 pick of the 2014 draft who missed the last two seasons due to a broken foot but has returned as a leading Rookie of the Year candidate.

“I want to be the best player and every time I step on the court, I think I’m the best player,” Embiid said. “And if the team needs me to do that kind of stuff — I think I’ve still got a long way to go — but I can do those types of things.”

Embiid, on a minutes restriction, played just 25 minutes.

“Joel brought us home with some individual brute strength,” Philadelphia coach Brett Brown said. “He came in and won the game for us. Joel was the focal point at the end.”

Paul George had 26 points and Monta Ellis added 19 for the Pacers.

After scoring nine points over a 2 1/2-minute stretch late in regulation, Embiid put the Sixers in front for good with a three-point play with 55 seconds left in overtime that made it 107-105. The Pacers turned it over on their ensuing possession and Embiid then came up big again, corralling a loose ball after he missed a jumper and then making a pair of free throws with 8.6 seconds left to put Philadelphia up four.

“It just feels good to finally get the chance to close a game out, which we haven’t been doing,” Embiid said. “Getting a chance to make shots in the clutch is a learning process for me and you’ve got to trust it.”

The teams completed a home-and-home after the Pacers won 122-115 in overtime in Indiana on Wednesday night. Jeff Teague had 30 points and nine assists, and George had 28 points and eight rebounds on Wednesday.

“We executed in our last game down the stretch; they executed tonight,” Pacers coach Nate McMillan said. “Our offense wasn’t sharp down the stretch. The things we need to do to win a ballgame, we didn’t do.”

Embiid didn’t play on Wednesday as he eases back into action.

“He’s a big man and made plays down the stretch,” McMillan said.

The Sixers looked like they were going to lose yet another November game after blowing five-point lead with 25.4 seconds left in regulation.

But the 76ers couldn’t hold on.

Ellis converted a three-point play with 22 seconds left. After Philadelphia coach Brett Brown called timeout, Teague stripped Sergio Rodriguez to give the Pacers possession. George was fouled and made a pair of free throws to tie it at 100 with 2.8 seconds left.

Embiid’s game-winning attempt in regulation went long.

HELPING OUT

Philadelphia’s Jahlil Okafor, who had offseason knee surgery, wasn’t scheduled to play on Friday night in order to rest for Saturday’s game at Atlanta. But Okafor was called into action in the first half and went scoreless in two minutes.

STREAK SNAPPED

The 76ers ended a six-game losing streak to the Pacers. Indiana still has won 10 of the last 12 against Philadelphia.

2:11 AM ET Brian Bennett ESPN Staff Writer Close ESPN.com Big Ten reporter. Joined ESPN.com in 2008. Graduate of the University of Kentucky. CINCINNATI — Xavier had already established itself as one of the best teams in the country this year, winning 24 of its first 27 games and rising to No. 5 in the polls. Yet when it came to the Big East, the Musketeers found themselves looking up, still vexed by Villanova . The Wildcats were the one Big East team Xavier had not beaten since joining the league in 2013, and their previous meeting this season ended with a 31-point embarrassment in Philadelphia on New Year’s Eve. “We knew we were capable of beating anybody in the country, but we had to prove ourselves against Villanova,” Xavier guard Myles Davis said. “Especially if we wanted to go far in March or if we wanted people to pay attention to us.” How’s this for an attention-grabber: The Musketeers dismantled the top-ranked Wildcats 90-83 in the Cintas Center on Wednesday night with a wildly impressive effort on both ends of the floor. The Big East officially has two strong Final Four contenders, and Xavier might actually pose the bigger threat if it can repeat this kind of performance next month. After missing most of the teams’ first meeting, Edmond Sumner was masterful in Xavier’s home win Wednesday over Villanova. AP Photo/John Minchillo Chris Mack’s deep, unselfish team came into the night projected as a No. 2 seed in Joe Lunardi’s latest bracketology and enhanced its chances for a possible No. 1, particularly if it could run the table through the Big East tournament. There might even be another meeting with Villanova in Madison Square Garden along the way, though it would be hard for the Musketeers to approach it with as much emotion as they exerted before a sold-out home crowd. Several times Wednesday night, players asked for even more noise from the fans. They celebrated after dunks and made 3-pointers. This win clearly meant a lot to everyone around the program, including the students who waited in line for several hours in the cold and drizzle to get into the arena. “Everybody reminds you that none of these guys have beaten Villanova since we’ve been in the league, the average margin of victory, yada, yada, yada,” Mack said. “Our team was able to shrug all that stuff off.” It did so by doing things to Villanova that most teams can’t. The Wildcats are fifth nationally in Ken Pomeroy’s adjusted defense rankings, yet Xavier sliced and diced that defense for 50 percent shooting and an ultra-efficient 24 assists on 30 made field goals. Three Villanova players fouled out, and a fourth, Daniel Ochefu , dealt with foul trouble most of the night as Xavier went to the free throw line 33 times. This was a monumentally different game than the first matchup, won 95-64 by Villanova. Of course, Musketeers point guard Edmond Sumner played less than three minutes that day before leaving on a stretcher. On Wednesday night, he stretched the Wildcats defense to its breaking point. Sumner scored 19 points (15 of them in the second half), dished out a career-high nine assists and added six rebounds. “Big difference,” Villanova coach Jay Wright said. “He’s tough to keep out of the lane. He makes it easy for those shooters to get shots.” Sumner’s quick-twitch penetration — he also got to the foul line 13 times — played an integral role. But Xavier showed off how many interchangeable parts it has, and how difficult it is to focus on any one of them. Six different players scored in double figures, and eight played at least 17 minutes. Mack’s 1-3-1 zone can cause fits for teams not used to seeing it, yet Wednesday he countered Villanova’s familiarity with the defense by using more man-to-man. That helped shut down leading scorers Josh Hart (4-for-13 from the field) and Ryan Arcidiacono (3-for-11, 1-for-6 on 3s). Wright’s team also hurt itself by missing several good looks near the rim and no doubt gave its fans nightmarish flashbacks to past NCAA tournament flameouts . Xavier owns a better recent bracket track record than the Wildcats, and this looks like Mack’s best team yet, with room to grow as freshmen Sumner and Kaiser Gates continue to come along. “I still think we can get better,” Davis said. “You’re going to see the same depth we’ve had and see guys playing hard. March is coming up, and we’ve still got time to get better.” At halftime, with Xavier leading by just three points, the Cintas Center announcer began advising fans not to rush the court. And when it was over, the crowd dutifully stayed in their seats despite knocking off the No. 1 team in the nation and their No. 1 nemesis. “It would have been odd to storm the court since we’re No. 5,” Mack said. “This team has bigger fish to fry.” And now that it’s finally figured out how to beat Villanova, Xavier can have even bigger goals in mind.

http://www.maggieflaniganstudio.com/meisner-summer-intensive/leading-meisner-summer-intensive-us-maggie-flanigan/ The Maggie Flanigan Studio provides the leading Meisner Summer Intensive acting program in the United States for students and actors who are seeking professional actor training. In this video Stephanie talks about the meisner summer intensive and how her perspective about training as an actor changed in six weeks.

Before the six-week Meisner Summer Intensive, what did you think professional actor training was like?

I didn’t really have an idea. I wasn’t really sure what training really meant, just because I always felt like I was bombarded by different training programs and workshops and, “I need this, I need to understand on camera techniques or I need to know to how to build characters.” I never felt like there was enough emphasis on the foundation of acting and what it meant to be really present. I was lucky to take Meisner intensive in Philadelphia and just a taste of it was enough for me to seek out a true Meisner program in New York city.

I did shop around for a while again, very overwhelmed by all the acting programs. I did some in-person interviews and when I finally sat down with Charlie and just feeling comfortable immediately in a studio and him asking me, “Why do you want to be an actor?” Blew me away because it was not anything that any other interviews had done. It was more of just wanting to just to sign me up and take my money. But Charlie wanted to know why this meant something to me and I just knew it. That’s why it was the best choice for me.

I shopped around to all the acting programs in NYC and it was overwhelming. When I finally sat down with Charlie I knew based on the questions that he was asking me, that this was the best choice for me.

What happened during the six weeks that changed your perspective on professional acting training?

That I didn’t know it all what it meant to really be actively listening. I was always so focused on what my line was and what I was feeling emotionally and where my character was going, not just waiting for the end of my partners sentence before I, “I knew I could come in.” That was definitely a little jarring for me to realize though, that’s bad acting. Okay. [laughs] Yes. Really actively listening, responding, answering, putting all my attention on my partners instead of what I’m dealing with. Taking everything personally is very hard. [laughs] But it really helped me start to connect with just the principles of what really matters when it comes to acting and being present.

What did you learn about yourself during the summer intensive that surprised you?

I thought I knew myself better. I thought i had such a good sense of who I was and this class really changed that perspective in a good way, though, because it helped me to embrace more of my uniqueness instead of trying to put on different masks sometimes in social situations. I wasn’t really understanding what it meant to be authentically myself and how that my unique makeup, the good, the bad and the ugly, really ugly, are all what makes me me. Charlie really drove that down that it’s about, again, really listening and taking things personally and standing up for your point of view. Now I listen and hear Charlie’s voice in my head all the time where I hear him asking me, “How do you really feel about that? What’s your point of view?” I realized that I need to embrace that more. [laughs]

What is Charlie Sandlan like as an acting teacher?

He is hard but in an amazing way, because he really kicks your ass in realizing that you’re only as good as the work that you put in. I think I struggled for a period of– Thinking that something I would do would be enough to get by. He made me realize that the bar that he sets for actors that he wants to work with was not only where I wanted to go, but it helped me set a bar myself as well, where I’m only as good as the work that I put in.

When it comes to class and when it comes to the way that he works with every individual actor in class, you could tell that he is very attentive and so intuitive when it comes to everyone’s journey and development. It doesn’t matter what stage you are, whether you’ve done a lot of work or you’re just starting off brand new, he understands how you need to work. And he’s not going to give you the answers, no, but he is going to be with you there throughout the entire journey. and that was so reassuring for me, because it made me feel like this studio is really a home for me and I can take risks, I can fail horribly and I know that I’ll be able to pick myself back up and continue learning.
