Welcome to the Dagu Glacier, a scenic moutainous area in the western part of China’s Sichuan Province. The rugged, moutainous beauty and the fresh, crisp mountain air draw many nature loving hikers and tourists alike, even in the winter. However, mountain climbers can finally rejoice, because Dagu Glacier now hosts one of the world’s highest altitude cafes.
Sitting at just under 16,000 feet, this cafe is already higher than any mountain in the Alps, the cafe at the top of Dagu Glacier offers some of the region’s most mind-blowing snowscapes and soul-soothing scenery. You can get to the top the old fashioned way, with cramp ons and ice picks, or you can take a cable car, which is how all the materials were delivered. However, temperatures frequently drop under 0 degree Fahrenheit in the winter, which keeps most tourists away from the cafe in the cold season. That’s one of the reasons why China’s vibrant internet community has dubbed this cafe the ‘loneliest in the world’.
