As the holiday season nears, Philadelphia police are investigating multiple cases involving package thefts. The department recently released footage of the latest occurrence, showing a woman approaching the front steps of a home and swiping a package.
The incident occurred on Friday, November 14th in broad daylight. The package was left outside the front door by a US Postal Service staffer and swiped by the female suspect about 40 minutes later.
It’s unclear if the woman knew surveillance cameras were fixated on her, but she seemed to know what she did was wrong. Just before she opened the storm door, the suspect looked over her shoulder to see if anyone was watching.
Right after snatching the large box, she nonchalantly walked down the sidewalk. The rightful package recipient and victim remarked “We all work hard for the money we earn and for the things we buy with it and for someone to just do that. It’s just not right.”
A few weeks prior to this crime, there was another one just like it in Philadelphia. A home security camera caught a male suspect stealing a United Parcel Service package right off a front doorstep and calmly walking away with the stolen box.
