Just two S. Korean companies in world’s top 500 by market capitalization

The number of Korean companies in the world’s top 5-hundred by market capitalization is down to just two.
According to Korea Exchange, Samsung Electronics is ranked 20th with a market cap of 268 billion U.S. dollars.
Chipmaker SK hynix was 267th on the list with 52 billion dollars.
Apple leads the ranking with a market cap of one-point-two trillion dollars,… with Microsoft and Google’s Alphabet making up the top three.
Analysts say the fall can be attributed to the shift in industrial structure from manufacturing to IT …and Korea’s export-dependent economy.
